Make It Special Without Click And Collect
Hello hello Class 4, I hope your poems and cards are coming along well. If you are stuck with your poem, send me an email and I might be able to help you.
As promised, we are staying on the subject of Mum. This year I think it is even more important than ever to celebrate Mums, because if you think being in lock down and isolation is not easy, try being a Mum in lockdown.
(Brief friendly reminder that Mums come in different amounts, shapes and sizes, see yesterday's post)
You might think, hold on Angela, this is our Class 4 blog and now you are making me do things for someone else. Doesn't make sense dear Teacher.
Do you remember us talking about resilience? Do you remember the story in Class 1 and 2 about filling buckets and how your own bucket fills as well if you give kindness away? Doing something for someone else build your own resilience- you get a lot back from it. That builds your own resilience, your bounce-back-in-difficult-times-ability. Try it.
I am a Mum too, so I can tell you the inside secrets what makes a Mother's Day really special. The most important thing to do is make sure you know what your Mum likes BEFORE Mother's Day. Here's why: one year, my kids told me not to get up because they were going to make me a nice breakfast in bed. Which was a really lovely idea. They had just forgotten one thing: I am always the earliest up in our house, not because I have to, but because I like it. They like to sleep long, very long. After lying in bed quite bored for hours (I can only read so long) around 12 o'clock I really had enough and I was quite hungry by that time. Not the best way to celebrate Mum. Since then we discuss plans a bit more in tune with each other. So make sure, before you surprise Mum with any of the idea below, that you know what she likes.
Here are my top ideas for making your Mum's mother's day really nice without spending any money.
1. Let her wake up slowly
In the morning, bring her a cup of tea in bed, along with her book or a nice magazine. If she would like to read, open the curtains for her so she has daylight streaming into the room.
2. Tidy Up
Everybody feels better walking into a tidy room. So while Mum is enjoying her tea or coffee and book in bed, do a quick tidy up of the kitchen and the living room
3. Make a nice breakfast
This one is not exclusively for Mother's Day- repeat it every day.
If you have other ideas how to spoil Mum without spending money, please write them in the comments below to share your ideas. There is no other writing task today, because you will be busy enough making your card and writing beautifully in there and preparing for Sunday.
Wishing you all a gorgeous day with your Mum on Sunday! Love to hear how it went.

3. Make a nice breakfast
4. Give Mum some time to herself
Mums are always running around for others. Maybe she just wants some time by herself, go for a walk or a run, meditate or chat on the phone with a friend without being disturbed
5. Prepare her a Pamper Basket
Ideas to put into your basket, depending on what sort of things your Mum likes
- baths salts/ bomb
- her favourite CD
- a book
- magazine
- fluffy towel or facecloth
- body oil, balm or any nice lotion
- hand creme
- a DVD she really likes
- a notebook and a pen for journaling
- candle
- eyemask
- hot water bottle
- essential oils
- a book with inspirations, quotes, daily meditations etc
- nail buffer
You don't have to use all ideas and you could add your own. Just go around the house and collect all the things she really loves. Or make your own (phone Sari).Find a basket or a shoebox and arrange the items nicely in it.
6. Play a game with her
Ask her what game she would like to play and play with her, even if you would prefer a different game.
7 Make her a bath or a footbath
Light candles, put rose petals in the bath, have flowers in a vase. Play nice soft music. Have a clean fluffy towel for her on the heated towel rail. Make sure her dressing gown and slippers are waiting.
8 Offer her an Indian Head Massage
Learn how to do this, it will be a gift for life!
9. Make her laugh
Entirely up to you how to do this
10. Tell her you love her
